This workshop will provide attendees with an overview of Child Endangerment Investigations specific to drug addicted families. The presentation will cover the identification of dangerous conditions including marijuana cultivation in the home. Speakers will present investigations from the Central Coast including manslaughter due to addicts co-sleeping with infants, and the 2008 violent homicide of a two year old at the hands of the mother’s meth addicted lover, and recent marijuana ingestion cases. This presentation does include GRAPHIC content from actual cases within the boundaries of CNOA Region 6.

Instructor: Suzie Aanerud

Detective Suzie Aanerud is assigned to the crimes against persons unit at the San Luis Obispo Police Department. For 9 years she has investigated multiple child murders and abuse incidents involving drug endangerment with a variety of ages of children. Detective Suzie Aanerud is a state certified trainer on the topics of Multi-Disciplinary responses to child maltreatment and Child Forensic Interviewing. She has taken an active role in spreading the awareness of drug related child abuse and neglect especially those related to alternative theories of endangerment such as Marijuana and prescription meds.
