CNOA Training Programs

The California Narcotic Officers' Association is one of the largest providers of law enforcement training in the state, delivering over 100,000 hours of instruction to more than 6000 students annually. The mission of our training programs is to provide law enforcement personnel, relevant training, at an affordable price, in the geographic areas of their employment. This concept, reduces training costs for our students and employing agencies, and enables our trainers to provide topics that are geographically relevant. To accomplish our mission, the California Narcotic Officers' Association utilizes three distinct training programs:

Regional Training Program
The eight regions of CNOA present over 75 separate classes annually. Classes cover a wide variety of topics, are usually eight hours in length, with costs between thirty-five and forty five dollars. Many classes are POST Certified for Training points, and all students receive college credit for attendance.

State Training Unit Program
The keystone of this program is the Drug Abuse Recognition Program (DAR). A comprehensive 24-hour course, it is presented 12 times per year in different geographic locations. The course is both POST and STC certified. Additionally, the State Training Unit presents a 40 hour POST certified Narcotic Unit Supervisors Course, "I'm Shot - a Course in Survival", and other unique programs developed to train in the ever changing area of narcotic enforcement.

Annual Training Institute
The highlight of the training year, the Institute presents over 30 workshops during a four-day program. Attended by over 2000 law enforcement professionals, the Institute provides the latest information in enforcement techniques and technology. Certified by POST, STC and the California BAR, the Institute has become the benchmark for law enforcement training conferences.
