Memorial Fund Golf Tournament
About the 2009 event... A tribute was held for the 14 officers lost in 2008 and Special Agent Patrick Dillon DOJ/BNE who was lost in 2007 due to work related injuries. The officers were also honored with Tribute Plaques with their photo, agency and EOW placed in strategic areas of the clubhouse. Betsey Dillon was in attendance with her two children and was presented with her husband’s tribute Plaque. The William Garvey Award named after CNOA 2005 1st Vice president who was lost in an on duty traffic accident was presented to Yervant Manavian for his many years of consistent support to the SMF. The Corporate Partnership Award was presented to Tom Chiarenza with Sempra Energy for their many years of support. I would like to thank LA District Attorney Steve Cooley who was present for his many years of support and San Bernardino District Attorney Mike Ramos for his support and generous donation of SMF monogrammed golf balls for all the players. Thank you to our Corporate Partners Sempra Energy, Enterprise Rent A Car, Yervant Manavian, Toyota of Huntington Beach, Union Press, Farmer John, Kapan Kent Co. Inc., Major and Gloria Garrett and California Police Youth Charities. A special thanks to our Gold Sponsor this year the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and our Corporate Sponsors, The San Bernardino Safety Employees Benefit Association (SEBA) and our friends at EZ-LUBE. Thanks to all the POAs, businesses and individuals who assisted our fund-raiser by sponsoring Tee Signs or provided donations. Lastly, I thank all of the committee members and volunteers who through their efforts made this a successful tournament. All monies raised for the SMF goes straight to the families of our fallen officers since the fund is run by volunteers. If you play golf come and support this most worthy cause and if not you can make a donation. Brian McAuley SMF Trustee and Golf Chairman
The California Narcotic Officers' Association (CNOA) is dedicated to providing high quality training to the law enforcement professionals who are our first line of defense against the proliferation of illegal drugs in our state. Founded in 1964, CNOA is the largest non-profit training association in California with nearly 7,000 members at local, state and federal agencies. The Survivors' Memorial Fund was established in 1990 to provide immediate financial assistance to the families of all California law enforcement officers who paid the ultimate price by giving their lives in the line of duty. Since its inception, the Fund has assisted more than 150 families in their time of need. The Survivors’ Memorial Fund
Golf Tournament is the primary financial source for the memorial fund.
Without the success of this annual event the Survivors’ Memorial Fund would
not be able to continue providing the level of financial support to the
families of our fallen officers. Without corporate sponsorships and
donations, the fund would cease to exist, and these families will be forced
to suffer the economic hardships during the most crucial days following the
loss of their law enforcement loved one.
What is the Survivors' Memorial Fund?
Tragically, each and every year, in the State of California, ten to twenty
law enforcement officers lose their lives in the line of duty. The survivors
of our fallen officers have informed us that the family’s immediate
financial need is for funds to cover food, travel, lodging and burial
expenses. Insurance and pensions are not received until many months after
the death of their loved one.
Now you can donate your old cars or cellular phones and make a difference. Through our donation programs you can support the Narcotic Educational Foundation of America or the Survivors Memorial Fund. Donate your used car, truck, boat or RV to the California Narcotic Officers' Association and we'll arrange to have it picked up free of charge. We accept most vehicles, even if they don't run. Some restrictions may apply on older vehicles, though. It's easy and convenient, and you'll be eligible for a tax deduction as well! Why donate my vehicle? It's much easier to donate your used vehicle than it is to sell it yourself. And the tax savings might even be more than what you would receive from a trade in. You’ll be spared the ordeal of selling your vehicle. How to make a car donation Donating is easy! You can fill out our form, or call California Narcotic Officers' Association at: (877) 775-NARC Donate Your Old Cellular Phones to CNOA We have entered into an interesting program, it's called Phone Recycling, and it allows us to raise funds for the Narcotic Educational Foundation of America by collecting used wireless phones. The phones are recycled, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Narcotic Educational Foundation of America. With an estimated 30 million inactive cell phones out there, the potential is tremendous.
Each of these unused
phones contains hazardous waste that is harmful for the environment. By
donating your phone, you help the NEFA,
you help the environment and receive a tax deduction for the value of the
phone.
