15th Annual Survivor's Memorial Fund Golf Tournament

2011 Chairman's Post Tournament Message
By Brian McAuley SMF Trustee and Golf Chairman

On June 27, 2011 the 15th Annual CNOA Survivors’ Memorial Fund (SMF) Golf Tournament was held at the beautiful Newport Beach Country Club, home of the Toshiba Senior Classic. We were fortunate to have a full field of 148 golfers. The players were treated to a continental breakfast, lunch and a great dinner at the banquet.

A video tribute and playing of Taps were held for the 11 Officers lost in 2010. The Officers were also honored with Tribute Plaques placed in strategic areas of the clubhouse. CNOA President Jim Hodges led the Pledge of Allegiance and gave opening remarks. We had two special guests attending, Jamie Coleman wife of CHP Officer Thomas Coleman from the Inland Division and Kelly McGrory wife of CHP Officer Justin McGrory from the Barstow Station. Both of their wives were presented with their husbands Tribute Plaques and other mementos.

The William Garvey Award named after CNOA 2005 1st Vice president who was lost in an on duty traffic accident was awarded to Rudy Delgado DOJ/BNE (Ret) for his many years of consistent support to the SMF.

The Corporate Partnership Award was presented to Enterprise Rent- A- Car for their many years of support. We would like to thank LA District Attorney Steve Cooley who was present for his many years of support and San Bernardino District Attorney Mike Ramos for his support and generous donation of SMF monogrammed golf balls for all the players. LA City Attorney Carmen Trutanich was also in attendance. Thank you to our Corporate Partners, Sempra Energy, Enterprise Rent A Car, Toyota of Huntington Beach, Union Press, Kapan Kent Co. Inc., California Police Youth Charities and 5-11 Tactical.

A special thanks to our Tournament Sponsor Author Dean Koontz and his wife Gerda. Other Sponsors include the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (Diamond), Yervant Manavian (Gold), The San Bernardino Safety Employees Benefit Association (Corporate), the Chief Special Agents Association (Silver) and the Professional Peace Officers Association (Bronze).

Thanks to all the POAs, businesses and individuals who assisted our fund-raiser by sponsoring Tee Signs or providing donations. Lastly, I thank all of the committee members and volunteers who through their efforts made this a successful tournament. All monies collected for the SMF go straight to the families of our fallen Officers since the fund is administered by volunteers.
